Colorado Springs, CO (March 23, 2024) – The Colorado Springs Switchbacks went to Texas to battle San Antonio FC and ended with a final score of 2-0.
The air was intense in San Antonio with this being the first time the teams have faced off since the 2023 USL Championship playoffs. In the 34′, Juan Tejada drew a penalty in the 18, giving San Antonio a penalty kick. With the intense anticipation between San Antonio player Juan Agudelo and Switchbacks Goalkeeper Christian Herrera, Agudelo took the shot and Herrera quickly blocked the shot, keeping the score at 0-0.
Going into the second half, both teams were itching to get the first goal. In the 75′, San Antonio player Lucas Silva snuck the ball into the net, giving San Antonio the first goal of the night. The Switchbacks were not backing down and kept applying pressure, especially with Quenzi Huerman and Ronaldo Damus repeatedly taking shots on target. With a few minutes left, San Antonio player Hugo Mbongue scores making the final score 2-0.
