
COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO (October 21st, 2023) – The Colorado Springs Switchbacks went head-to-head against San Antonio FC, ending with a final score of 1-0.
The atmosphere at Toyota Field was intense and both teams brought the heat to the Western Conference Quarter Final. The Switchbacks carried 66.7% passing accuracy, won eight out of eight tackles, and had 62.1% possession of the ball in the first half.
In the 17′, #1 Christian Herrera had a notable save when San Antonio kicked it halfway from the center line, with Herrera quickly jumping up to catch the ball, keeping it outside the goal line.
Coming back to the game with a score of 0-0, the pressure was on to see which team would score that first goal. The good guys had the cards stacked against them especially with San Antonio having the home-field advantage.
In the 55′, San Antonio had a lucky break right inside the 18, and #8 Jorge Hernandez got the ball into the net. With the Switchbacks giving everything they had and having some late substitutions in the last 10 minutes of the match, the team was unable to even out the score, ending with 1-0.
