Weidner Field, home to the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC, hosted Premiere League Lacrosse over the weekend of July 30th for their national championship tournament. Over the three days (July 30th – August 1st) the PLL held five games played among the eight different teams in the league.
Founded in 2019 by two brothers, PLL is the newest league in the world of professional lacrosse. The league is comprised of eight different teams, and in a new innovation of professional sports, none of them are attached to a specific city. The PLL is a touring league, and all the teams move as one group, with none of them having a home stadium in a specific stadium in order to encourage fans for each team from across the entire country.
Thousands of fans showed out to Weidner Field to help cheer on their favorite teams, and despite heavy rain causing a delay on Saturday evening, the entire weekend was a huge success.
The Switchbacks are heading into the second half of their season, with their next home game on Saturday, August 7th. For tickets to this game, or to learn more about hosting your own event here at Weidner Field, head to https://www.switchbacksfc.com
