Since 2014, the Colorado Springs Switchbacks have opened up one opportunity for soccer players of all types to make the professional team every year. Technical Staff will take one or two players into training camp from the Open Tryout and allow them to perform against seasoned professionals at the teams training camp. The odds that players trying out are invited to training camp are low. The odds that the player(s) invited to training camp earn a season long contract is also low but it is possible.
Jack Jones attended the Open Tryout in 2017 and signed a professional contract with the Switchbacks. Jack earned playing time by the sheer energy and enthusiasm he brought to the game. A highlight for the Club that season was Jack laying off a ball to Rony Arguetta in the waning moments of tied match with Oklahoma City for an assist, goal, and win.
Please be aware that you will need to furnish your own living arrangements for the tryout. If you are one of the few invited to attend training camp, you will have to make your own living arrangements for at least two weeks in January. If you are offered a season long contract, living arrangements will be discussed but not guaranteed to be provided in a contract.
Tryout Details:
- Takes Place January 27-28 of 2024 at Weidner Field
- The Open Tryout is limited to 100 players
- Players must sign medical waivers and other paperwork to play
- Players will receive a Club t-shirt with entry
- Cost is $200 if purchased before December 31, 2023
- Cost is $250 if purchased January 1, 2024 or after
