Colorado Springs, CO (October 28 2016) – Last Friday, the Switchbacks were visited by a tourist group from Smolensk, Russia. Switchbacks President Nick Ragain and Assistant Coach Wolde Harris welcomed the group by giving them a tour of Switchbacks Stadium, handing out merchandise, and setting up a small scrimmage between a few of the travelers.
In 2015 Colorado Springs had the first official diplomatic delegation to Smolensk in 20 years. “It has never been more crucial to strengthen American-Russian ties and it all begins on a city-to-city and person-to-person level,” says Chair of Smolensk, Russia program Stephanie Shakhirev. “Through mutual cultural understanding, strong friendships, and educational and economic alliances, great things can be accomplished in our quest for common ground.”
Thank you Smolensk for being such amazing guests!
