Colorado Springs, CO (January 17, 2017) – The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC officially announced today the signing of former FC Montreal midfielder Masta Kacher. The signing is pending league and USSF approval.
Kacher is a Canadian-Algerian who moved to Montreal at a young age from his home country of Algeria. He would then begin his career in Montreal’s Academy Program. With the U18 squad, he was part of the club’s first experience in the USSDA (U.S. Soccer Development Academy) where he helped his team reach the semifinals in Seattle before finishing third in the USSDA playoffs. Kacher then went on to play for FC Montreal of the USL in their inaugural 2015 season.
“Masta is a player we identified after playing with FC Montreal the last couple of seasons,” said Head Coach Steve Trittschuh of Kacher. “He is a very technical and exciting attacking player that will create a lot for us in the midfield.”
As one of the youngest players on FC Montreal, he played a total of 14 games totaling 573 minutes. Kacher stepped it up this past season playing in 22 matches totaling 1,252 minutes. He also tallied two goals and added an assist during the 2016 campaign.
